Animal Breeding and Research Technician 
Qualifications

  • Animal Care and Husbandry Responsibilities
  • Ensure that high standards of animal welfare are met.
  • Provide food, water and clean housing to animals according to applicable SOPs.
  • Perform routine animal health observations.
  • Monitor temperature and humidity, reporting any issues to supervisor or manager.
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Maintain vivarium cleanliness in accordance with applicable SOPs.
  • Order and maintain accurate supply inventory
  • Maintain and organize supply areas.
  
Other Responsibilities 
  • Maintain rodent breeding colonies
  • Reserve, select, and accurately pack animals for customer orders following established shipping procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Physical Demands 
  • Dexterity of physical condition to operate all job duties; lift and move objects regularly throughout the shift.
  • Work in a standing position requiring bending and stretching of arms and legs throughout regular work shift.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  
Special Considerations 
  • Must avoid contact with rodent species outside of work.
  
Education 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or BS preferred.
