Breeding Services, Animal Care Technologist I
There is a full-time opportunity for a Breeding Services, Animal Care Technologist I. The employee works under general supervision to practice basic animal care, husbandry, colony management, animal room maintenance and operations, information systems and record keeping.  The employee is expected to progress following a prescribed curriculum, learning objectives and practical performance standards.  The employee is responsible to learn and demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the curriculum including general duties performed for the work areas in disinfection/sanitation, barrier entry/exit and safety procedures.

Qualifications 
  • High School Diploma or GED and knowledge of barrier room function and animal husbandry as normally acquired by 3-5 years’ experience in a position in which animal husbandry was a major job responsibility
  • Successful completion of Lab Animal Science I and II is required
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain mouse colonies and applying proper record keeping
  • Demonstrated team player
  • Demonstrated ability to identify sick/ill/deviant mice with guidance
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately record and report activities with software and enter/extra data
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal relationship skills
  • Organizing and coordinating skills; detail oriented, flexible, ability to multi-task, shift priorities and remain focused and positive
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures
