Early Learning Educator
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides facilitation of CCM-developed early learning programs in the Play space, adapting activities to meet the needs of a wide-range of visitors (ages, abilities, interests, backgrounds and perspectives) while considering overall program goals.
• Plays with children, talks with caregivers, strives to build relationships with visitors, as appropriate
• Contributes to the organization and maintenance of the Play space environment, and the caregiver materials and resources, including changes to day-of program set-up as needed.
• Conducts all established health and safety protocols to ensure that the Play space remains safe, clean, and healthy for visitors.
• Manages Play space capacity, including managing timed visitor check-in to the space.
• Sets and resets environment and preps materials as needed.
• Collects attendance numbers, surveys, and documentation of programs.
• Writes anecdotal observations and visitor quotations.
• Fields general museum questions from the public and acts as a museum representative.
• Supports the museum’s work in diversity, equity, access and inclusion and actively ensures that DEAI principles are upheld in all work with fellow staff and with visitors.
• Attends staff meetings as needed.
• Reads and responds to weekly email communications.
• Contributes to supporting, training and mentoring new early learning educators and volunteers.
• Contributes to other functions of the Early Learning Team in a variety of ways such as the assistance in development of a variety of programs; facilitation of special events.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Experience working in early childhood education, child development, museum education or similar role (this includes relevant paid and unpaid work/volunteer/community work).
• Educational and/or customer-service related experience with children, caregivers, and families from a variety of backgrounds, abilities, experiences, perspectives.
• Dynamic facilitation skills and a creative, passionate, and respectful approach to working with young children and their caregivers.
• Commitment to child-centered, multi-sensory, open-ended experiences.
• Ability to work in team-oriented environment, take direction well and work independently without supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective verbal communication with staff, children and caregivers, in groups or one-on-one. Written communication includes daily reflections of individual’s Play space practice, tips for next day’s educators, and connecting with supervisors.
• Strong organizational skills relating to materials, visuals, space, and ideas.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a variety of situations; demonstrated problem-solving, dependability and flexibility.
• Commitment to CCM’s mission, vision, and approach to early learning.
• Enthusiasm for learning and mastering new skills on an ongoing basis; willingness to be informed/certified/trained through institution-offered courses and to work within Diversity, Equity, Access, Inclusion (DEAI) frameworks and actively engage in learning about these frameworks.
• Ability to attend monthly staff meetings and trainings (combination of in person and virtual).
• Course work in early childhood education, child development, or museum education a plus.
• Bilingual skills a plus. Physical Requirements of the Position
• Stamina and physical endurance to stand and walk in studio space, maintaining quality interaction with museum staff and visitors. Bending, lifting, and reaching is required to access supplies. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to crouch down/ sit on the floor/interact at the level of the child
• Ability to withstand louder noises; museum spaces can get loud
• Repetitive friendly and courteous communication while engaging with visitors and staff and speaking to groups.
• Dress code required.
• Ability to engage in virtual meetings via Zoom, Microsoft TEAMS, etc.
