Mechanical Engineering LeadFull-time

You will be performing preliminary and detailed level stress analysis of spacecraft flight structures and mechanisms, electronic components, and ground and test support equipment using standardized processes and tools. You will review and oversee stress analysis and provide technical mentorship to less experienced stress analysts and actively support knowledge transfer.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 
  • Generating stress analysis technical memorandums and reports to support data packages, peer reviews, and external customer reviews
  • Preparing technical charts and represent the organization in design reviews and outside contracts
  • Supporting static structural test definition, requirements, monitoring, data reduction, and comparison to analysis while understanding and incorporating other applicable mechanical (thermal, dynamic, materials, etc…) and system level requirements/parameters into the stress analyses

Basic Qualifications: 
  • Experienced with spacecraft or aircraft structural analysis methods
  • Expert knowledge of structural characteristics and the ability to generate free body diagrams detailing load paths through complex systems
  • Experienced with spacecraft design
  • Advanced structural analysis capability with ABAQUS or NX/NASTRAN finite element modeling or equivalent
  • Experience leading a team of analysts and engineers through all phases of design activity
Desired Skills: 
  • A Master’s degree is strongly preferred for this position
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and highly integrated team environment
  • Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficiently
  • Non-linear, fracture& fatigue, and buckling analysis experience
  • Mechanisms, antenna, electronic component, ground support, hoisting, and test support equipment, and composite materials analysis experience
  • Experience with Matlab, Mathcad and CREO
  • Static, vibration, acoustic, modal, shock test experience of aerospace flight hardware
  • Experience with static tests and development of test plans
  • Experience performing structural analysis of commercial or military space flight hardware
  • Ability to mentor junior analyst.
