Sr. Economist
DESCRIPTION 
Looking for a Senior Economist to dive deep and help model our distribution cost structure accurately as we estimate, optimize and track project savings. In addition, you will think big and envision how we compete with a diverse set of competitors from convenience stores to shopping destinations through understanding customer demographics, purchase intents and choice. You will communicate this vision to multiple stakeholders effectively and create buy-in. You will create a roadmap, and execute by leveraging assortment, pricing and any other tool. You will have access to experts in Operations Research and Data Science and even Nobel Prize winner Economists as you combine the power of different techniques to model and validate your work to bring your vision to life.You will work with product managers, SDEs and Business Intelligence engineers and will own the implementation and business value tracking of your models.
Key job responsibilities
• Develop a compelling vision and matching product roadmap leveraging techniques from behavioral economics, data science and operations research to help Company Fresh Stores stand out in a highly competitive market landscape.
• Build costing, pricing, segmentation, consumer choice and loyalty models.
• Review and audit models, analysis, and results of other scientists, both junior and senior.
• Partner with other science leaders throughout Company to effective solutions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· PhD in Economics or related field (finance, quantitative marketing).· Experience in industry, consulting, government, or academic research.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.· Experience working as a consultant with multiple business stakeholders.· Proven track record of solving real business problems.· Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary science team of economists, applied scientists, software engineers, and data engineers.· Ability to apply advanced ML/statistical methods, and to communicate effectively about these methods to non-technical audiences· Experience with large data sets, and fluency in data analysis languages (e.g., R, Python, SAS, etc.)
