Job Description
We are hiring a Food Science professional to join our Nutrition & Biosciences BU as a Sr. Scientist, Food Protection!
NATURE OF WORK/SCOPE OF POSITION 
We are looking for a Sr. Scientist (Food Antioxidants) who is willing and able to take on challenging and innovative projects involving antioxidants in food applications. This right individual would be responsible for designing and carrying out application projects involving an extensive line of food protection solutions in a variety of food application areas including; meat, fats and oils, pet food, beverages, bars, culinary, etc. This would include utilizing the analytical/antioxidant, food application, and sensory laboratories for evaluations, testing and performing analytical procedures.  Effectively manage internal and external projects from experimental design to completion.  Assist in troubleshooting and educating internal and external customers.  Leverage professional skills to collaborate with sales and business management in driving the overall growth of the antioxidant business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
We are looking for someone to design, lead, and execute food oxidation/antioxidant studies in a laboratory setting, including sourcing required products, reagents, and materials. The candidate must be adept in analyzing analytical data, from a wide array of assays, and be able to clearly communicate results both internally and externally.  Maintenance of appropriate documentation for experiments through the electronic laboratory notebook system and the active use of all computer systems will be required.  Assist customers and sales by participating in in-house or technical visits and answering technical questions as needed. The ability to work in cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and provide solutions to meet the needs of internal and external customers is required.  The candidate must have the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision. Presenting in workshops, forums, and tradeshows may be required, so excellent communication skills are a must.
1.    This individual would be well versed in the principles of food oxidation
2.    A strong working knowledge of analytical methods employed to assess the oxidative stability of food products using HPLC, GCMS, Rancimat, Oxipress, and other analytical equipment as needed is required.
3.    The ability to develop new analytical methodology to support a rapidly growing/evolving business. 
4.    The right candidate would have the ability/knowledge to aid in the development of new antioxidant ingredients., develop new testing methodology.
5.    A strong understanding of natural, clean label, and traditional (chemical) antioxidants.
6.    Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across the organization.
7.    Ability to education a wide variety of audiences both internally and externally.
8.    A strong desire to help develop more junior colleagues and aid in their overall development.
9.    Strong technical writing ability.
Job Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
To successfully perform the requirements of this position, the incumbent must possess a minimum of 10 years experience and have obtained an MS in Food Science, or related degree, and have a working knowledge of food oxidation/antioxidants typically gained through specialized work experience in the food industry. The ability to work independently while participating in a team environment is an integral part of this position and excellent communication and collaboration skills are a must.
