Systems Educator
JOB DESCRIPTION
People who are comfortable teaching in both formal and informal settings, able to design and implement curriculum, develop appealing documentation and can adapt quickly to change as well as be a confident agent of change do well in this position.
We are seeking a Systems Educator to:
  • Create, update and teach Health Link (Epic) Electronic Health Record Software (EHR) curriculum to physicians, nurses, and other staff. Class sessions can be one-on-one or up to 200 people. Class modes are a mix of in-person, at-the-elbow, and online. Must be able to work in in-person training, open concept, and remote work environments.
  • Must be comfortable using non-traditional methods, such as remote technology, to teach and sometimes support learner groups where in-person interaction is not possible.
  • Must be able to proactively learn, develop, and modify existing Health Link (Epic) curricula, often at a rapid pace.
  • Work confidently with internal and external stakeholders to help determine appropriate education needs for a variety of learners and learning styles.
  • Work with internal and external vendors and staff to develop web-based education programs, and to quickly develop Health Link education deliverables that meet UW Health’s clinical and/or revenue needs.
  • Participate in system testing of software upgrades from a process/functional workflow perspective to assure efficiencies are not compromised, and to develop and/or modify Health Link education deliverables with accuracy and speed.
EducationMinimum – Bachelor’s Degree (relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of)
Preferred – Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Healthcare, Information Technology, Business, or related field strongly preferred
Work ExperienceMinimum – Three years relevant experience
Preferred – Five to seven years relevant experience in a Healthcare setting
Licenses and CertificationsMinimum – Epic certification for supported modules when applicable within 6 months of hire
Preferred – Certification (or equivalent) in at least one Epic or other Electronic Health Record (EHR) clinical application is desired.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of applications such as MS Word, Excel, Access, Visio and Adobe Captivate or other eLearning development tool required.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze clinical workflows, determine patterns and communicate potential improvements to analysts and IS/clinic/operational management.
  • Ability to effectively educate and motivate clinical staff of all levels.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply computer-based concepts to clinical processes.
  • Ability to logically organize details.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical and/or complex concepts or topics to a lay person.
  • Ability to acquire and assimilate new knowledge and skills quickly.
Physical RequirementsMedium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
